Why see an Orthotist?
Orthotists are allied health professionals who are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Orthotists are uniquely trained engineers with knowledge of the human body and the medical problems that impact upon it. Orthotists undertake detailed assessment to identify biomechanical problems following detailed assessment. They work collaboratively with patients to design, prescribe and fit the most appropriate orthosis for each individual. Orthotists who work for Peacocks have extensive clinical experience and their ability to provide quality orthotic solutions is highly valued amongst the healthcare community.
If injured or impaired in function, any part of the human skeleton may require some form of orthosis to provide support or pain relief. Orthoses can support, stabilize, rest or realign joints.
Orthotic devices are splints, calipers, braces, supports, trusses, insoles and special footwear.
At the North East Foot Centre, our Orthotists are some of the most respected in the profession and spend most of their time working with physiotherapists, podiatrists and doctors at hospitals or on direct referrals. Our devices are made to exacting standards at our own factory at Peacocks Medical Group headquarters promising a fast turnaround, or sourced from select suppliers.
Orthoses and shoes can be selected from a special range of readymade devices we carry at the North East foot centre or can be made to measure at our factory in Newcastle upon Tyne.
